Tutoring hours are by appointment.

Closures and Holidays

We may be closed in the event of snow, earthquake, flood, and power outage. Feel free to call and confirm whether we are open or closed.

Snow: If Bainbridge Public Schools are closed, we will also be closed. If Bainbridge Public Schools have a delayed start, we will be open. Drive only if you feel safe. If snow begins to accumulate during the day, we will close early.

Earthquake: If an earthquake occurs during the day, please pick up your child as soon as you can. While we will try to make your child comfortable, an earthquake is an upsetting event, and your child will feel more secure with you.

Power Outage: If we have no power, we will close since we will not have a heating source or running water.

You will receive a calendar with holidays marked. You can expect us to be closed on the following days:

  • Monday of the second week of school
  • Thanksgiving, day before and day after
  • Winter Break
  • Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday
  • Presidents’ Day
  • Spring Break
  • Memorial Day
  • Fall and Spring Learning Celebrations
  • Teacher Continuing Education Days (2 days to be announced)

We may celebrate some holidays in class: Halloween, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving, Posadas, Dia de Muertos, Winter Solstice, Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, and others. We celebrate holidays by making decorations, eating special food, and discussing the history and beliefs behind the holidays. Our discussions of many holidays include mention of God. Although The Learning Workshop is not a religious school and does not promote a specific belief in a Higher Power, we do acknowledge various beliefs in a Spiritual Being. Please let me know if you want your child to be exempt from certain celebrations or if you would like an additional holiday celebrated.

Summer Sessions

The Learning Workshop offers summer sessions during July and August. The schedule of activities is relaxed, with many opportunities to enjoy the pleasant weather of summer. Our organized activities are exciting and meaningful and focus on art, science and nature themes. The Summer Sessions Schedule and Fees is now available for download below.

We require that students new to The Learning Workshop attend at least one week of summer sessions to meet a few classmates and become acquainted with the teachers and our school. Students not enrolled in the regular school year may also register for Summer Sessions.
