Parents provide or arrange transportation to and from school for their child. Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parent volunteers will be solicited to drive on field trips.

Parents are encouraged, but not required, to work in the classroom. Parents are requested to help with one fund raising activity and one yard work party.

Parents who work in the classroom or drive on field trips are required to have current CPR certification, an FBI background check, and a TB test.

Parents plan one field trip or guest speaker. Responsibilities include gathering all information on times, fees, and transportation, making reservations, recruiting chaperones, and attending the trip.

Parents purchase some supplies for their child and send a healthy lunch every day.

Parents are expected to read all newsletters and notes sent home. At least twice a year, parents attend conferences with the teacher. Parents are invited to class puppet shows and other activities to culminate a unit of study. Every other month parents are invited to a Parents’ Club meeting (depending on group’s interest).

Parents are expected to discuss concerns or questions with the teacher.

Parents are expected to have back-up care for when The Learning Workshop is closed or their child is sick.

Parents have access to the classroom any time The Learning Workshop is open.
