We keep parents informed of their children's daily activities in several ways. Many of the products that are produced (paintings, writing, and sculptures) are sent home after a display period. However, many of our experiences produce no final product. We play games with dice, finger write letters in boxes of sand, act out stories, play musical instruments, and build with blocks. These activities are described for parents in our weekly newsletters. Each family has a communication journal sent back and forth from home to school. In this journal teacher and parents can write notes and questions to one another. Often the teacher's entries in the journal are about something a child did that day. Sometimes a note is sent home about a problem a child has had. Other times suggestions are made for activities to do at home to support what is being studied at school.

Fall and spring conferences give us the opportunity to discuss children's growth and development and to set goals for learning. Besides these planned conferences, parents are invited to request a conference any time they wish to speak privately with a teacher. For briefer conversations, parents are invited to call between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
